Can I bring my own skis or other kit on the coach?

Space on the coach is always limited. So if you would like to bring your own kit with you, let us know in advance and we will advise whether or not there will be enough room.

How long does it take to get to the resorts by coach?

The approximate timings below are from Calais. You will need to add any additional UK travel time depending on where you will be meeting the coach. Remember that you travel through the night so the journeys seem to pass quicker.

Montgenevre – 12 hours

I'm travelling to the USA. What are the Visa requirements?

Please be advised that all UK citizens entering the United States under the Visa Waiver Program are required to apply for ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization). ESTA is a required "travel permit;" it is not an actual U.S. visa.

ESTA Applicants must also have a valid machine-readable passport. UK travellers without an approved ESTA Travel Authorization or a valid U.S. Visitor Visa will be denied boarding on all U.S.-bound flights. Don't let this happen to you!

What do I do if the coach pick-up is not convenient for us?

You could look at a different holiday where the coach is on a different route.  Sometimes we suggest families consider swapping to a different holiday if the coach route for that holiday looks more convenient.

We also recommend you look at National Express coaches, which are excellent value for money and have a great network.  Often families get on one of these coaches near home and meet our coach at Dover.

Where will the coach pick up points be?

We arrange several convenient pick up points which will start from the north of England or Scotland and then follow a main route, usually following the A1 or M1, or M25 to Dover.

We choose the best route to suit all families going to a particular resort.  Pick up points tend to be transport terminals such as coach and train stations, motorway service stations and, finally, Dover Docks.

If you are considering travelling by coach but are worried about where to meet the coach or how long the journey would be, please call us so we can advise you on the best choice for you.

Frequently asked questions

Are the activities instructed in English?

Yes, all sessions are held in English. Our instructors are our employees - recruited and trained by us.  This is one of the best parts of an Acorn holiday.  Our staff really do make all the difference - they are incredibly dedicated to giving you the best possible holiday.

In Italy, we use expert local White Water Rafting instructors who know the Dora Baltea river like the back of their hands.  They are usually Italian, but always speak very good English.  Our staff usually also accompany each raft so there will be someone familiar with you at all times.
